Our New Home!

Posted by penguinpiek on 30th July 2007

Well, I went on a trip overseas and Tyna developed our new property on EduIsland 3. Wow! What a terrific job she did! We now have a waterfall cave, another cave, a treehouse, three cabins, and a campfire. Tyna even terraformed the land so we have a stream flowing through the cave with the waterfall. Now the hard part begins…deciding how we can actually use this property for something for other educators to use, especially those folks in Virginia.

We spent several hours brainstorming and came up with the following ideas:

Treehouse ~ 3 levels: each of us will have an office and the other level will be a meeting spot

Treehouse

Cabins ~ a center for ITRT specific resources, an educational center, and a fun spot

Cabins

Campfire ~ a relaxing place for impromptu meetings

ITRT campfire

Cave ~ bloggers cave

Bloggers Cave

Waterfall cave ~ no educational purpose at present, but it certainly is pretty!

Well, maybe its purpose is pure fun, and at the end of the day, what educator doesn’t appreciate a little fun?

Flintstones, Meet the Flintstones

Posted by penguinpiek on 24th July 2007

Fred, Barney, Wilma, Betty, Pebbles, and Bambam….These were among my favorite cartoon characters for many years, and some creative genius has recreated Bedrock in Second Life. Of course, I was compelled to pay it a visit.

The streets are lined with colorful trees and buildings and cobblestone streets.

You can visit Fred’s house and share his popcorn and Fruity Pebbles cereal.

There’s a ferris wheel ride in the middle of Bedrock.

You can take a ride on Dino’s back or stroll around in the famous man-powered automobile.

Pay Fred and Barney a visit in SL Bedrock, and tell them Penguin sent you!
